7 Best Vegan Restaurants In Hoi An

We did not have any trouble looking for a vegan restaurant near me while in the yellow city of Vietnam: Hoi An? This little town will never disappoint you and these vegan restaurants definitely reconfirm our affection for Hoi An. So, let’s follow Asiart Travels’ expert - Ella May and her 7 picks for your plant-based dining in Hoi An.

Minh Hien Vegetarian Restaurant

Where: 50 Tran Cao Van, Minh An, Hoi An, Quang Nam

When: 09.00 – 22.00

$$$: $

Alongside with other 2 sister properties, Minh Hien is considered as the most diversified vegetarian restaurant chain in Hoi An, specializing in providing vegetarian and vegan food with local flavors and herbs.

“Because we are Muslim, it is very difficult to get halal food in Hoi An. But because we wanted to taste authentic Vietnamese cuisine, we only had vegetarian options, but it was delicious so we forgot that it was just vegetables.”

The best thing is: the amazing atmosphere with beautiful garden, and lovely staff. So, will you try this out and let us know how you feel about the food at Minh Hien Vegetarian Restaurant?

P/s: Non-vegan/vegetarians are always welcomed! And you will love it, we promise!

Karma Waters

Where: 213 Nguyen Duy Hieu, Cam Chau, Hoi An, Quang Nam

When: 10.00 – 20.30

$$$: $$ - $$$

Located further away from the main town, Karma Waters is a charitable organization offering charity events, owning 2 vegan restaurants/accommodation properties, running vegan cooking classes and selling vegan products. This was established with a great vision: to promote a healthy vegan lifestyle for the entire planet.

Special Vietnamese vegan dishes are served at Karma Waters Hoi An made with 100% organic and fresh ingredients (non-GMO as well)! Remarkable dishes maybe: veggie burger, banh mi chay (vegan Vietnamese sandwich), tasty vegan pho (with vegan broth & Vietnamese sausage – can you believe?!).

Not a fancy place, but with thoughtful core value which has been rated in Happy Cow’s list, this is worth trying once you’re visiting Hoi An.

The Fisherman Vegan Restaurant

Where: Beach front, Block 8 | An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam

When: 08.00 – 21.00

$$$: $$ - $$$

Special Dietary: Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options, Gluten Free

Ella discovered The Fisherman by chance as this restaurant was not on her original list. Her hotel offers a drop-off at this hotel so she came back the following day. Ordered a Buddha bowl, vegan Pho, juices and a smoothie bowl, all taste amazing! You’ll be confused with how many dishes this place could offer, but Ella’s pretty sure they are just as tasty as the dishes she ordered.

The story behind this place (and its name The Fisherman Vegan Restaurant) is that the owner used to work as a fisherman in Hoi An and you might have a chance having a chat with the fisherman if he’s at the restaurant by the time.

The only down point is that the food is a little pricey, but what can you say about having vegan food while sunbathing on the beach?!

Tra Que Garden

Where: Hai Ba Trung, Cam Ha, Hoi An, Viet Nam (3.1 km from Hoi An Town Centre)

When: 09.00 – 16.00

$$$: $

Special Dietary: Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options, Gluten Free

This interesting place is located in the eco-village named Tra Que. This village is believed as a provider of fresh organic vegetable and herbs to all Hoi An house-holds. Ella visited this place just to try their food, but they have a lot more to offer: Vietnam cooking class, Farmer Package and Hoi An Village Food Tour.

Their foods are so typical Vietnamese, and here are some must-tries that Ella suggests: Fried Rice-Pancake (Bánh Xèo) and Vietnamese Fresh Spring Roll (Gỏi Cuốn) dipped in Peanut Sauce.

Recommendation: You may consider taking a cooking class at Tra Que with a super friendly local host. This will be an amazing experience where you’re living a local farmer life.

Tam Quang Minh

Where: 33 Ly Thai To, Son Phong, Hoi An, Quang Nam (a hidden gem)

When: 06.00 – 20.00

$$$: $

You will be surprised by how well this restaurant cook their dishes with mock meats and you don’t even realize you’re eating vegetarian/vegan food.

Located in a hidden spot in Hoi An, this is supposed to be a very local place or only for people living in Hoi An for a while already. Feel lucky and don’t miss it while you’re in Hoi An, even just for a few days.

Must-try: Vietnamese roll-cake (bánh cuốn) – you will never tell if this dish is meatless as it’s exactly like the original flavour.

Vegan Zone

Where: 197 Nguyen Duy Hieu, Cam Chau, Hoi An, Quang Nam

When: 10.00 – 21.00

$$$: $$ - $$$

Located close to Karma Waters, Vegan Zone is also a restaurant approved by Happy Cow organization for its green-activities and purposes.

Basically, Vegan Zone offers quite similar food options, which are Vietnamese vegan style, a-la-carte or buffet. Foods are amazing and you should consider Ella’s favorite dishes below. Plus points are a lot: they use recycle bamboo straws (so plastic free!), 1 complimentary bottle of water each; and lastly, great staff!

Must-try: lemongrass tofu, and noodle soup

The Tamarind Tree

Where: Nguyen Phan Vinh, Cam An, Hoi An, Quang Nam

When: 08.00 – 23.00

$$$: $

Special Dietary: Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options, Gluten Free

A much more relaxing vegan option on the beach for its better prices, great vibes, friendly staff and awesome foods. As this family-run restaurant’s mission is to cook decent home food, you will find yourself keep coming back. Ella was amazed of how everything is so good and she did not have to pay a fortune.

Guess what, Ella was addicted to their crispy tofu, and they rock at their eggplant dishes, too.

P/s: not to be biased, but this is Ella’s most-recommended options out from this list. Come try it out and see if you agree with Ella?
